EMI AVORA

Emi Avora’s paintings are a collision of color, light, and symbolism—where reality meets dreamlike distortions. Born in Greece and currently based in Singapore, she channels her dual cultural experiences into compositions that blur the line between observation and imagination. Her subjects range from interiors and landscapes to objects that hold personal or cultural significance, merging the mundane with the extraordinary.

At the heart of her work is a fascination with space—how it’s shaped, how it transforms, and how we relate to it. She plays with scale and perspective, often bringing together objects that seem disconnected yet engage in an unspoken conversation. Her use of heightened color and dynamic lighting creates an emotional intensity, while elements of mythology and fiction weave through her compositions, making each piece feel both intimate and universal.

Avora’s process is just as important as the final piece. Her mark-making is fluid yet deliberate, revealing an interest in the fundamental aspects of painting—color, shape, pattern, and composition. Through this approach, she constructs a world where the past and present, the real and imagined, coexist in unexpected harmony.

Through color, light, and scale, I seek to create a dreamlike space where the everyday collides with mythology, inviting viewers to engage with reality in a new way.
